A note from Evelyn Wilson - Director, Purchasing & Materials
Management:
I am happy to be able to present you with your furniture standards manual. The College recently adopted a modular office furniture
and seating standardization policy and concurrently awarded a contract to
the Educational And Institutional Cooperative (E&I) to provide Steelcase modular office
furniture and office seating.
One of the tangible products we purchased as a result of the
contract was a furniture standards manual. The purpose of the
manual is to: provide the college community with a reference guide for
the selection of furniture and cost estimates; streamline implementation
of the guidelines; offer direction for equipping a complete work setting
and provide guidance in ordering furniture. The standards manual
includes work setting configuration samples, layout options, optional furniture,
work tools, filing, storage conference rooms, dedicated work teams,
training centers, lounge areas, and other environments. Samples of
material swatches an surface descriptions are included.
In implementing a furniture standards policy, the College benefits
from improved product quality, continuity of design, visual consistency,
improved customer service and lower life cycle costs.
For assistance with the specification of the proper Steelcase office
furniture and Steelcase seating for you office environment, contact the
Office Environments of New England representative who will meet with you and provide guidance in
helping you make selections. Furniture delivery schedules and the
time required for design and planning services make it essential to plan
as far in advance as possible. Please try to do this in the
preliminary stage of a project.
Any questions can be directed to me at x6152. I appreciate your
assistance as we move forward to improve the quality of furniture for
the College.
